Bregenz Festival

Look forward to unforgettable world premieres of operas and concert gems at the Festspielhaus, groundbreaking contemporary art on the Workshop Stage, or touching treasures of opera literature at the Vorarlberg State Theatre. During July and August, the summer festival attracts around 200,000 visitors with over eighty performances to the tri-border region between the Alps and Lake Constance. Artistic ambition and a passion for the extraordinary come together to create magical moments by the lake.

About the production:

A desolate village in Germany shortly after the Thirty Years' War: the young clerk Max is in love with Agathe, the daughter of the hereditary forester Kuno. But in order to marry her, Max—an inexperienced marksman—must submit to an archaic tradition and prove himself with a test shot, a challenge that seems impossible for him to overcome.
