Lindau
Historic, diverse & worth seeing
A historical island with unmistakable charm, surrounded by a crystal clear lake and a lush green area and mountain scenery in the background.
Historic squares and alleys give it an almost Mediterranean flair
The old town of Lindau is located on the approximately 70 hectare Lake Constance island. The well-known landmark of the city is the harbor entrance with the Bavarian lion and the new lighthouse, behind which the impressive panorama of Lake Constance and the Alps opens up.
Lindau is the most south-westerly city in the Free State of Bavaria and an important tourist center on Lake Constance. The historic island town in Lake Constance is connected to the "Garden City", the districts on the mainland, by a bridge and a railway embankment.
You can stroll through the alleys of the old town, past the artistically painted town hall and the lovingly restored half-timbered houses. The waterfront is really still a promenade where life happens. The view of the perhaps still snow-covered Swiss mountains make your heart beat faster. The spa concerts on the beautiful promenade on mild summer evenings are a treat for the eyes and ears.
